So, it’s now less than four weeks until Scotty and I head back to France. We’re headed back to the French Riviera and it’s safe to say that I’m super excited.
I’ve been in full scale planning mode. Thoughts of what to pack have obviously been on my mind. I’m thinking there will be lots of white in my case. While there’s always a smidge of danger with white, especially if you’re as messy as me, it does look fresh. And white pants were everywhere last time we visited Nice. Because I still choose a colour palette to anchor my packing choices around (as I spoke about in this post), at this stage I’m guessing that I’ll be teaming the white with navy and tan.
I’m now a serial restaurant stalker (there’s a good chance I’ll be making a reservation here just for the view). And I’m planning our day trip to Èze entirely around lunch. I’ve also been printing vaccination certificates, trialling face masks in order to find the most comfortable variety and I’ve dusted off my camera to get some early practice. And we’ve got the house-sitter (or should that say Chandon Cat-sitter) locked in.
But I’d Love To Know What You’d Like Me To Share
While I’m starting to feel ready to go, one area I need to get clearer on is what you want me to share about this trip. Do you want to see what I’m packing? Or how I pack? Are you keen to see what makeup and skincare will be in my case? Do you want me to share photos of the French Riviera, or would you prefer to see video? Would you like more outfit shots like I shared on our last trip? Or would you prefer shots from our travels. Are you looking for fresh travel tips? Or maybe you’d like to see or read something entirely different – something I’ve never thought to do before.
If you’ve been in the Distant Francophile community for any length of time, you’ll know that I’d much rather share information on things you want to know, rather than me just guessing and sharing any random thing.
So please, hit reply to this email and let me know what you’d like to see both here on the blog and on our Instagram page. Or share your thoughts in the comments below. Don’t worry about full sentences – dot points are fine. We’re even contemplating YouTube videos – so let us know if that’s something you’d be keen to see.
Thank you in advance for helping me with my planning. I can’t wait to start designing some fun bits and pieces to share with you.
And until next time – au revoir.
P.S. If you’re not looking to travel to France any time soon, but would like to bring a little piece of France into everyday life, don’t forget about the Distant Francophile Fine Art Print Shop. You’ll find a series of gorgeous images for sale, including Saint-Tropez Style, which is the photograph I’ve shared in this blog post. And a reminder for my US friends…thanks to the current exchange rates, print prices start around $170 USD. And we offer free shipping worldwide xx

Hi Janelle, I was just in Nice in early June, after a week in Rome and a week in Tuscany (a cooking program). Being by the sea again was SO refreshing, and the view of it from my room’s balcony was wonderful. For packing purposes, re: colors, I’d think in Sept you might not want to go with bright white, but perhaps a light beige or cream instead — it is getting into Fall, and so the softer more muted shades would work better. And, of course, black slacks are always a good choice, with a multitude of options for tops, from bright/colorful to moody/cool. As for your sharing what you do/see along the Cote d’Azur, I want to see it all! I couldn’t stop taking pics, of everything from the seaside to the villages (St. Tropez, Monte Carlo, Eze, Castignon + more) — everywhere you turn there’s something beautiful/interesting to focus on. Hope you enjoy your travels as much as I did mine!

Sounds like you had a wonderful trip Sharon – and yes, I’m looking forward to that view too. Thank you so much for the tips on the whites – I’ll definitely play with the variations of cream and beige. We were in Nice back in 2019 and I’m looking forward to taking LOTS of photos. I’ll be sure to share as many as I can here and over on Instagram and Facebook xx
Hello.
I’ve just returned! It was wonderful to be able to travel again but oh so hot.
We started our travels in Frankfurt, then to Nice, Avignon, Arles and Lyon then up to Paris.
We took every document under the sun but apart from our passports needed nothing, other than masks on the plane.
It’s as if the last two years didn’t exist. There were a few people wearing masks in the streets but that’s about all.
Hi Claire, I’m so glad you had a fabulous trip – you certainly travelled to some of our favourite places. Thanks so much for the travel updates. It’s good to know what to be prepared for…I have been wondering. But by the sounds of your experience, it doesn’t seem like much has changed xx
Hi Janelle, I’d love to see EVERYTHING in regards to your trip lol!
