French Inspired Online Shopping

Well, I don’t know if it made news in your part of the world. But our home base of Melbourne, Australia went into stage four lockdown last week.

After a few short weeks of freedom, we landed back in stage three isolation about three weeks ago. Unfortunately, Covid-19 case numbers continued to rise, and we saw restrictions needing to tighten again. We’re now facing at least five more weeks of limitations. This includes an overnight curfew and all students returning to remote learning. There are very few valid reasons for leaving your home, with almost all businesses closed. And if you do leave the house, you can’t travel further than five kilometres.

But I’m not complaining. Mostly because we could be saving lives.

Besides, in times of adversity, we humans prove again and again that we’re a clever bunch. It’s been brilliant watching businesses blossom online and creative courses move to digital formats. The increased amount of inspirational, free content has also been wonderful to see. Especially when so many incomes are being affected by this crisis.

I wonder what this pandemic might have been like before the world had the internet?

For many of us, the internet is providing connection, day-dreaming opportunities, entertainment and perhaps a little retail therapy. And today I thought I’d share three of my recent French inspired online shopping finds.

French Inspired Online Shopping

Stylish Staples – Jainus

Years ago, I posted that go-to stores are one of my style secret weapons. And I shared all the reasons that made Jainus my favourite local go-to store. Regardless of whether I’m shopping for work or travel, I can always create a fabulous outfit thanks to the European inspired pieces I find at Jainus.

The outfits I’m wearing in the photos above all came from Jainus. As did the statement earrings featured on my desk. If you are wanting to elevate your look, Jainus is and excellent place to start.

Which is why I’m excited to share this news. Rita – the boutique’s stylish owner – has launched the online Jainus experience.

Head to jainus.com.au and check out the huge range of clothing, accessories, statement jewellery and homewares that are on offer.

If you see something you love, make sure you enter the code JANELLE10 at checkout to receive a 10% discount on your order. This code is valid until the 31st of August, 2020. A great big thank you to Rita for so generously making this discount available to DF readers.

Covid is making international shipping a bit challenging at the moment. But if you do want something delivered outside Australia, just reach out to Rita via email. She’ll help you with your order and the shipping costs.

French Goodies – French Cargo

Although I’ve never had the pleasure of visiting in person, French Cargo is an online shopping favourite of mine. Especially when I feel like I need to bring a little bit of France into my every day life.

At French Cargo you’ll find all sorts of lovely bits and bobs to upgrade your wardrobe and your decor. From clothing to furniture, books to cushions, owner Kathie stocks the lot. I’m especially fond of the linen tea towels – as mundane as that sounds.

One of the things I love about French Cargo is the high level of personal service you receive with your order. This is often rare when shopping online. But Kathie has such an eye for the details. Hand written notes and beautifully tied ribbons make you feel like you’re receiving a gift rather than an online delivery. I mean, look at how prettily my recent book order was wrapped.

French Inspiration – My French Country Home Magazine

I’d kind of thought we’d have made a quick trip to France in September or October this year.

But disappointingly, I don’t think we’ll be travelling any time soon. We can barely leave the suburb at the moment!

Which means I’m having to find my French inspiration outside of travel. And one source has been via My French Country Home Magazine. In an interesting mix of French inspired online shopping and binge reading, I’ve been devouring back issues of Sharon Santoni’s lovely magazine.

I can’t say the it is quite the same as being in France. But it’s easy to lose yourself in the beautiful villages and buildings featured on the virtual pages.

I’d love to know – have you been tempted by a little French inspired online shopping recently? If yes, please share your favourite sites in the comments section below. Especially if they have a French flavour.

And until next time – au revoir.
