Previously on Distant Francophile….we’ve discussed the Parisian adoration of wearing black.
People watch for any length of time and you will definitely see a lot of black. When you are in Paris black is favoured shade for coats, tops, boots, jeans and just about every other item of clothing you can name!
But watch for a little while longer and you’ll start to see something else. Every now and then you will see a little pop of colour. Nothing too extravagant of course, just a classy, understated splash of brightness here and there.
Red will almost certainly show up in shoes, umbrellas or scarves.
A cornflower blue bag might catch your eye.
I noticed a pair of gloves last year that were the most gorgeous tone of burnt orange.
These small accents are worn with confidence and add a special something to an otherwise all black outfit.
To Frenchify Your Friday this week maybe you might like to dress all in black except for a little splash of colour.
It’s such an easy way to bring a touch of French style to your day and I’m almost willing to guarantee you will receive compliments on your ultra-smart look.
All the best for a fabulous Friday.
And until next time – au revoir.

I recently posted about noticing so many people–especially men–wearing orange pants. This is not a little splash of color. It’s a major commitment. Orange, in shades from a faded red like Nantucket red to vibrant tangerine, is everywhere in the south of France this year. Especially from the waist down.
Yes – orange pants are way more than a pop of colour. But I’m sure they are entertaining!
Love this post Janelle and YUM on the color pop with black! 🙂
Thanks so much Kathryn! Have a fabulous day.
