Looking for an easy and classy way to Frenchify Your Friday this week? An idea that is unlikely to require any thought, effort or time? Something that will suit both ladies and gentlemen alike?
If you answered ‘yes’ to those questions, then why not Frenchify Your Friday this week by dressing in black?
Yep. Black.
All black outfits are so common in Paris that you might be forgiven for thinking there is a uniform policy. But it is not just the Parisians who embrace black. From Normandy to Marseille, every chic French person understands the power of dressing in black.
Let’s face it. You are unlikely to go wrong with black.
It can be dressy or casual. It can take you from work to dinner. And it is often thought to be slimming, which is generally considered a good thing.
And regardless of where you happen to be in the world, there is a strong chance you have some lovely black items, just ready and waiting, in your wardrobe.
French Friday sorted.
Until next time – au revoir.

I always considered black to be Garanimals for adults, but easier (because we need it). One black item always goes with another (instead of giraffes with giraffes, zebras with zebras).
Easier for laundry days, too. Black load, white load. Fini. No existential angst about whether some color will bleed onto others or get bled onto and come out muddy gray.
I do love color, but it’s easy to get a rainbow’s worth in a jewelry box and scarf drawer.
I’m packing tomorrow. I hope they like navy as much as they like black.
If not, I’ll be the one in navy blue 🙂
Hi Claire. I hope the packing went well! Navy is also very popular in France, so you’ll blend right in.
