This week, I’ve got a sweet little way to Frenchify Your Friday. Buy yourself some macarons!
Very small and very sweet, these colourful confections are simply beautiful. They are virtually guaranteed to bring a smile – and some French inspiration – to your day.
In fact, sometimes I think they are almost too pretty to eat. But let’s be honest, that thought doesn’t last too long!
Once, getting your hands on macarons was a real challenge (at least in our part of the world). But following extensive research, I’m pleased to report that quality macarons are now available just about everywhere.
Having said that, it’s still a real treat to savour a Pierre Hermé macaron (or two) while in Paris.
When it comes to flavours lemon has been a long time favourite of mine, although I can be easily tempted by a salted caramel macaron. And French vanilla occasionally turns my head. Sometimes, I just have to try them all.
Pick yourself up some macarons this Friday and bring a tiny bit of France into your day.
Until next time – au revoir.
P.S. If you are feeling particularly inspired by this idea and would like to make your own macarons, learn how to master this French classic here.
