Why not ‘Frenchify Your Friday’ this week by serving French cheese with your meal?
The French are famous for their many fabulous cheeses. And they certainly love them. French cheese is on every menu in France – even the most basic. I’m always fascinated by the number of diners I see ordering cheese while we’re visiting France. It really is a regular occurrence – which is in direct contrast to Australian behaviour.
Observation tells me that most diners prefer to savour the flavour of just one cheese. And they appear to favour the local speciality. For example, if you happen to be in Sancerre, the delicious local goat’s cheese, Crottin de Chavignol will be the most popular choice.
So this Friday, head to your favourite delicatessen and pick up a single French cheese to try. Maybe a creamy Camembert or Brie. Or perhaps a Comté or a Roquefort might suit you better. Just choose whichever cheese suits your taste – and enjoy!
Oh, and if you are wondering what should be served with your choice of cheese, you won’t go wrong with slabs of crusty baguette and a light salad.
All the best for a fabulous Friday!
Until next time – au revoir.
