The French love lingerie. This fact, I know, does not constitute news. Reams have been written on the topic. Brands. Styles. Amounts spent. They all attract interest. But I have to admit being surprised (and amused) when we came across a men’s lingerie store in Lyon.
I must admit that I’ve not given too much thought to men’s lingerie previously, let alone considered tracking down a boutique in which to purchase it.
Whilst we did not venture inside, I can’t say the exterior of the boutique quite rivalled some of the greats in French lingerie. For example, you probably wouldn’t compare it to the Chantal Thomass Boutique on Paris’ Rue St Honore.
However, it is pleasing to know that the French ideal of equality stretches even to lingerie.
As an aside, I highly recommend a visit to Chantal Thomass’ only stand alone boutique – even if you are not in the market for new underpinnings. The store fit out is entertaining and fun and the staff are down to earth, friendly and knowledgable. Sadly, the brand is notoriously hard to get your hands on in Australia.
Until next time – au revoir.
