After our trip to Dijon on Friday, we backed it up with a visit to the amazing village of Perouges on Saturday afternoon.
Having done a great wine tasting tour with Olivier of Kanpai Tours earlier in our trip, we were pleased to have the opportunity to join one of his sightseeing tours.
One of the many highlights of this full day tour was the visit to the walled medieval fortress village of Perouges.
Although the village now caters mainly for tourists, there are still about 90 people living in Perouges. The village is picture postcard perfect, having been restored by locals (and other investors) in the early part of last century after falling into a state of disrepair.
Apart from being stunningly beautiful, the village has another claim to fame – it was used as the backdrop for the original Three Musketeers motion picture.
We’ve been so lucky on this trip to discover yet another side to this spectacular country.
Until next time – au revoir.
