Frenchify Your Friday – Number 55

Parisian gardens

To Frenchify Your Friday this week, we are recommending you spend a little time in a park. Or a garden. Either will do the trick.

The French love their parks and gardens. This sentence is unsurprising on so many levels. Firstly, public French outdoor spaces are simply gorgeous.

Secondly, and probably more importantly, with French living spaces generally being compact, the French need their parks and gardens for recreation.

I’m always fascinated by the amount of activity in Parisian gardens in particular. Sit for a while and you’ll see all manner of sporting endeavours – from Pétanque to jogging to football – as well as children playing on lush green grass and dogs proudly parading with their stylish owners along the paths.

Neither the weather or the season deter the French from enjoying their parks and gardens. All year round you will find that French parks are packed with people keen to enjoy the great outdoors.

And, for those of us who aren’t lucky enough to actually live in France, spending a few minutes in a local park or garden is an extremely easy way to bring a touch of French joie de vivre into your day.

All the best for a fabulous Friday.

Until next time – au revoir.
