Finding French Inspiration – In September

Montmartre

I can’t tell you how glad I am that September has finally arrived – mainly due to the fact that Melbourne has just suffered through the coldest winter in 20-something years. I know I am not the only one in this part of the world who has been not-so-patiently waiting for spring.

To celebrate the fact that we have headed into a new season as well as a new month, I have all sorts of fun French inspiration to share with you all tonight.

As always though, I will start by sharing a little of what’s on in Paris during September – for all of you who have been clever enough to plan to be there in the next few weeks. This month I’ve turned to for About.com for our update, primarily because they shared information on what sounds like an extraordinary exhibition at one of my Parisian favourites, the Musée Rodin.

And while I’m thinking of Paris, many of us automatically assume that you will always eat well while you are there. Sadly, that is not always the case. You can easily come across some fairly ordinary restaurants without too much effort. Thankfully, the good people at Paris Perfect shared some great tips recently on how to instantly spot a good Parisian restaurant.

Continuing on with the theme of avoiding a poor French experience, Diane from Oui in France made me smile this month with her entertainingly titled post How to have a bad experience in France. Check it out here.

Now onto a completely different topic. Vicki Archer has been continuing that never ending conversation – French women and their hair – with the key word in that sentence being ‘women’. In her recent post, Vicki discusses how women (as opposed to girls) can interpret that classic French look.

And while on the subject of style, I was intrigued by this article from Marie Claire. I have to share though that I was a bit unsure about some of the outfits – mainly because I’ve never been convinced about flying for leisure in a dress. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the best travel wear in the comments below.

Wishing you all a fabulous September.

Until next time –  au revoir.

PS. Last month, I mentioned that Scott and I were planning to work our way through Melbourne’s top 10 French restaurants over the year. We ticked one off the list this month with our visit to the ‘city version’ of Entrecôte. I can vouch for the fact that the steak that is mentioned in the review is definitely worth trying. Melbourne Francophiles stay tuned – details will follow.
