Finding French Inspiration – In May

Find French inspiration

Hooray – we’ve made it to May. I was very excited to flip the calendar over on Friday…mainly due to the fact that we head back to France on the 22nd of the month.

This coming trip is full of long-term wish list items for me – language school, a Parisian photo shoot, a stay in some very special accommodation – and I can’t wait to keep you all updated on our adventures right here on Distant Francophile.

With our trip so close, I’ve been trying to squeeze in as much research as I can and have come across all sorts of French inspiration to share with you this month.

First up, if you happen to be Paris during May, you’ll want to check out Paris in May – what’s on? As usual, the team at My French Life have curated a varied list – I think there is something for everyone this month.

And, while you can always find lists of things to do in Paris, it is not so often you come across lists of what not to do. However, this Condé Nast Traveler article from October last year provides some excellent guidance.

I’m sure all travellers constantly keep half an eye on the exchange rate – it really does make or break how far your travel dollars go. The strengthening US dollar is proving to be very helpful for my francophile friends in America – as this eurocheapo piece explains.

On a personal note, I’ve been thinking a fair bit about hair. I’ve just got mine cut (again) and it really is quite short now. While I know I will never have that effortless hair that so many French women seem to have mastered, it doesn’t stop me reading all about it – and you can too Vogue’s A Brief History of French Girl Hair.

Finally, my education into social media continued this month. After discovering Instagram (follow our account here), I’ve moved onto Pinterest…and I’m loving it. I’ve only just started pinning, but I’m finding it quite addictive. You can check out what I’ve been looking at here.

I hope you all have a fabulous, French inspired May.

And until next time – au revoir.
